Karlsruhe is again living up to the hype as Germany’s high-tech hub: On 8 October, the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe is opening its doors for the fascinating Innovation Festival 2021, a carefully curated day of keynotes by high-profile speakers and 13 specially selected innovations presented by the organizations and people behind them.

Founded in 1989 to go against the grain of conventional museology and cultural event traditions, the ZKM hosts all manner of innovative events and exhibitions from digital media art shows and stage performances to innovation get-togethers and conferences. Its unique track record of pushing the envelope with its shows and event formats makes the ZKM a perfect place for the InnovationFestival. The event will be introduced by Peter Weibel, Director of the ZKM, and Dr. Frank Mentrup, Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe, and will be a perfect opportunity to discover more about the vibrant IT and digital solutions community of the city. The day’s proceedings will end with a special afterwork session, prepared and hosted in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which is celebrating its popular KIT Science Week at the same time.

As leading IT security innovators and committed ambassadors for Karlsruhe, Wibu-Systems is proud to be part of the InnovationFestival. At 4.15 pm on 8 October, Oliver Winzenried, our CEO and founder, will be joined by Bastian Wieland, Managing Partner at archis Architekten, to speak about the newest developments – commercial, technical, and architectural – at Wibu-Systems. Their talk on “IT Security Innovation through Co-operation” will take a closer look at the conceptual thinking and principles of co-operation behind the new co-working and co-innovation space IT Security Club as well as the highlights from Wibu-Systems’ own labs: the cloud-based protection and licensing system CmCloud and the Blurry Box encryption technology.

The InnovationFestival 2021 promises to be a great experience for the attendees at the ZKM. A livestream will be available for all interested viewers who cannot make the trip to Karlsruhe.
