Innovative updating mechanisms for keeping hardware secure over the long term

德国卡尔斯鲁厄——万物互联的世界,相互联通的机器和ICT系统需要比以往任何时候都更强大的安全机制,而且要兼顾工业设备较长的生命周期。为了能够在长期使用过程中承受住各种安全攻击,其安全系统需要即时升级,保持最新安全防护状态。ALESSIO联合项目的目标正是研究和评估这种可持续升级的安全机制。项目合作伙伴在11月28日自动化行业领先的贸易展览会SPS的VDMA论坛上展示其结果。

在英飞凌公司的领导下,Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security(AISEC)、Giesecke Devrient公司、西门子公司、慕尼黑工业大学和威步信息系统公司自2016年以来一直致力于开发用于连接计算机应用程序和嵌入式系统的芯片级解决方案和原型产品。ALESSIO得到了德国联邦教育与研究部(BMBF)约390万欧元的资助,项目计划于2019年12月31日完成。

用于互联制造的安全信息和通信结构

每台新连接的设备都是潜在的网络攻击网关,公司的敏感数据和信息可能会被捕获并滥用以进行进一步的攻击。这就是为什么设备至关重要的安全性和对信息的可靠保护需要依赖于软件和硬件安全保护的组合。虽然对软件未来仍可以进行修改,但是一旦集成硬件或安全芯片,就可以防止对设备进行远程操纵。安全芯片可以想象成一个高度受保护的安全区域,在其中存储数据和与安全相关的信息,安全地远离软件。除此之外,还必须有一些方法来升级这一安全区域,因为攻击媒介和方法可能会随时间而变化。

ALESSIO项目的合作伙伴可以证明,可持续升级的安全解决方案可通过以下两种技术实现,即可通过安全芯片中的可持续升级的软件实现,也可通过集成在可编程逻辑器件FPGA中的可持续升级的安全元件实现,这样的安全保护方式保证即使在运行期间也可安全地更新硬件组件。两种方案都可以保证ICT网络和数据安全,以及长期有效地管理与安全相关的数据。
